Mobile Networks And New Avenues For AdvertisingNew mobile phone are coming out faster and faster. Fresh new apps ideas are being developed into full fledged applications dealing with different streams of life. As apps catch on and the Smartphone revolution becomes ever stronger, a new phenomenon is emerging in the world of advertising and marketing. There are new opportunities for advertising on mobile networks and various platforms which have suddenly become available for marketing and advertising. Apps that run online on mobile networks often have adverts either embedded in them, or can show up while the app is loading, or between the app. Some free gaming apps have advertisements embedded in the games, and the ads are part of the game environment; in fact, companies often develop and create apps for the purpose of advertising. Today apps and mobile networks provide a cost effective advertising platform to companies, but this is not limited only to businesses and corporations. An increasing number of celebrities are developing their own apps for their fans. This allows fans to remain updated at all times. MySpace, Twitter and Facebook are no longer enough, and having a personal mobile app is definitely a feather in a celebrities’ cap! Research has shown that mobile advertising gains a significantly high positive response from users. Mobile network advertising is not just a passing fad but something that is backed by fact and here to stay.
Some of the problem areas recently tackled by us including ongoing programmes, are:
The latest venture is the design of a system of dedicated microsats that will deliver observations of storm location and intensity in 'real-time' to forecasting centres and ships at sea. We have longer experience in the field of creating useful marine products from raw satellite data than any company in Europe, and this is reflected in the number of Training Workshops it has been asked to organise around the world.

Several satellites measure the height of waves at the sea surface. We archive these and windspeed measurements in the database. This then used to provide high quality marine statistics and climatology.
Transporting a 33000 ton semi-submersible safely from Canada to Brazil depends critically on making the best use of whatever information is available on sea-state. We worked closely with DockTell on the project.
The Sea State Alarm service transmits reports to ships comparing actual sea state along the satellite tracks with the forecast. |
