Searching for a job can be unnerving and often frustrating if no useful leads come your way. Is your inbox bombarded with emails from online job search engines full of useless job openings? If yes, it is time to read the job search checklist. This list is to help you make sure you’re doing everything in your power to get the right job.
Point number one on the checklist is the plan. Do you have a plan? If not, make one! Finding a job is a project, and any project requires a master plan so that it doesn’t go haywire. Have a clear idea of the kind of job you want, and the kind of place you want to work at.
Second, meeting and talking to people. Networking may sounds like a fancy buzz word, but it is a legitimate way of getting doors to open for you. Say you are interested in telecom jobs it would not hurt to talk to the friend of a friend who works at a telecom company. This may not be only step you take towards getting a job, but it certainly can be one. Have you used all the resources available to you? There are plenty of places to look for jobs. This includes job search websites, local classifieds, job centres. If you’re interested in a particular position, write to the company directly. There is no harm in trying.
Try all possible avenues; including talking to people you know who work in the industry of your choice. Push the limit, try your absolute best and you’re more likely your dream job!
